Noir Kei Ninomiya

Kei Ninomiya dropped out of his course at Antwerp’s Royal Academy of Fine Arts to become a pattern-maker for Rei Kawakubo at Comme des Garçons, a decisive moment that saw the protégé hone his mastery of innovative techniques and architectural silhouettes. After just four years, he launched his own label to express his unconventional assembly techniques – the designer avoids sewing wherever possible, instead linking together laser-cut pieces. The label’s signature dark romance embraces a future-facing take on natural elements: expect reams of ruffles resembling flowers that are artfully arranged from PVC or tulle, creating wearable works of art.
