With top British designers including Henry Holland,
Sophia Kokosalaki and Katharine Hamnett lending
their creative talents to Grazia’s Lives not Knives
campaign, making a style statement doesn’t get
more powerful than this. Every t-shirt worn will raise
awareness about what is surely the biggest issue
facing us all right now, with all profits going to the
Ben Kinsella Foundation, set up by Ben’s family
following
his fatal stabbing in London on
Sunday 29th June.
“I’m so delighted that Grazia is supporting us with the
Lives not Knives campaign,” Ben’s sister Brooke told Grazia. “The money raised will be used in a variety of ways to try to end this terrible knife crime epidemic, such as funding more community support and providing police with more knife wands. We’re also looking at producing an awareness booklet and helplines for school children, and even a music concert. I’m really touched by how many designers are sharing their time and talent in honour of my brother, and am thrilled that Matches Fashion are selling the t-shirts online.”
In addition to the designer t-shirts, Grazia are also demanding that the government adopts five initiatives to put an end to knife crime, as well as launching an online petition. After all, as Ben’s death – the seventeenth teenager to die violently in the capital this year – has shown – this is an issue that can affect any one of us.
